
25 Jun Day 1 Bodyboard King Northern Beaches Pro
The ABA Pro Tour race remains wide open after an action-packed first day of competition at the Bodyboard King Northern Beaches Pro Today.
More than 60 competitors descended on Whale Beach for the final round of the National Pro Tour, with 3-4 foot peaky waves on offer.
Standouts on the opening day include defending champion Jake Stone who cruised to victory in his round one heat.
However three-time world champion, and Whale Beach local, Ben Player put in the performance of the day, with a range of barrel to move combo’s to post the highest score of the event so far with 15.24 points.
West Australian duo Davis Blackwell and Lee Wilson were also impressive in their heats, taking victory and moving on to the second round.
The second round of the Pro Men’s will feature championship contenders Joe Clarke, Lachlan Cramsie, Michael Novy and Cade Sharp.
Meanwhile in the Pro Junior division, current rankings leader Jake Martin was a shock early exit from the contest, putting his championships in jeopardy.
The other two competitors still in contention for the Pro Junior crown, Liam Lucas (NSW) and Simon Cassidy (QLD), both progressed through to tomorrow’s semi finals.
Tomorrow’s competition will be streamed live exclusively through Riptide TV.
